Abstract:

The study was conducted in laboratories of Plant Protection Department / College of Agriculture / University of Basrah to evaluate the efficiency of the biocontrol against whitefly nymphs Bemisia tabaci Genn. Plant extracts of Lawsonia inermis, Nerium oleander, and Conocarpus lancifolius as well as fungal suspensions and bacterial toxins of the fungi Acremonium fusidioides, Acremonium kiliense, Humoicola fuscoatra, Cladosporium oxysporum and Aspergillus carbonarius were utilized in the biocontrol. Obtained result showed that ethanolic extract of C. lancifolius recorded the highest mortality proportion for nymphs reached to 76.29 % with a significant difference compared to rest treatments. However, both concentrations exceed 0.5 % concentration in the mortality percentage 49.78 % for whitefly nymphs. Our result indicated that there were no significant differences between the effect of fungal concentrations in the mortality portion on the nymphal stages of the whitefly which recorded (24.06, 26.07, 27.24, 28.39, 22.74) % respectively Acremonium fusidioides, Acremonium kiliense, Humoicola fuscoatra, Cladosporium oxysporum and Aspergillus carbonarius. Results elucidated also that there were no significant differences between fungal filtrates in the mortality percentage on nymphal stages of the whitefly.
