Abstract:

This experiment was conducted at Sweida Research Center, General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research, Syria, during the 2023- 2024 season. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of three sowing dates (December 5, December 20, January 23) on the productivity of three lentil varieties (Hourani, Idleb 2, and Ebla). The experiment was arranged in a split-plot design with three replicates. The results showed that the first sowing date significantly outperformed the other sowing dates in seed yield (810.7 kg. ha-1), plant height (33.09 cm), dry weight of aerial parts (10.739 g), number of pods per plant (99.98 pods. plant-1), number of seeds per plant (89.57 seed. plant-1) and seed weight per plant (3.291 g). Regarding the varieties, Idleb 2 significantly surpassed the others in seed yield (626.4 kg. ha-1) and number of seeds per plant (78.96 seeds. plant-1). Concerning the interaction, the Idleb 2 variety sown on the first sowing date (December 5) significantly exceeded all other treatment combinations in seed yield, recording 1006.7 kg. ha-1. The preliminary results indicate the preference of cultivation Idleb 2 variety at the first sowing date (December 5) in stability zone Ⅱ in Sweida Governorate.
