Abstract
Anaerobic digestion of wasted amount of agriculture products is considered an important process to get a clean environment and to get renewable source of energy. In this study the the effect of co-digestion of broad beans wastes (BW) with cow manure (CM) on Biogas production was investigated in order to get kinetic data for degradation and increase the biogas yield. Eudiometer batch digesters of one litre capacity were used and the temperature was set at 37 C°. Hydraulic retention time was 30 days. Biogas yield produced from the co-digestion of BW with CM (ratios of BW to CM were 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 respectively) was ranged between (147-262) LN/Kg VS. The co-digestion ratio between BW and CM which gave the maximum biogas and methane yield (191 LN/Kg VS), was observed to be 50:50. The pH of the anaerobic digestion process was measured daily by a specially designed laboratory device. The measured pH values were suitable for the anaerobic digestion process and ranged between (5.4 – 8.8). A first order kinetic was adequate to fit the experimental data obtained with the reaction rate constants values ranged between (0.07 – 0.09).
