Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This study was conducted for the first time at Syrian\ncoast, by the aim of investigating the fauna of monogenean helminthes of\neconomically important marine fish\/ Genus Diplodus<\/em> sp., breed in Al-Sinn\nfish farm, and their dynamics between natural and cultured environments. The\nstudy showed that fish samples (18 fish) of the genus Diplodus<\/em> caught\nfrom Al-Sinn fish farm, belong taxonomically to two species: Diplodus\nvulgaris<\/em> (Linnaeus, 1758), and Diplodus cervinus cervinus <\/em>(Lowe,\n1838). <\/em>The results of the microscopic examination of wet smears taken\nfrom fish gills of Diplodus vulgaris<\/em>, and Diplodus cervinus cervinu<\/em>,\nshowed the presence of a single species of monogenean helminthes belongs to\ngenus lamellodiscus <\/em>sp. (L<\/em>.). L. elegans<\/em> infected the\ngills of Diplodus vulgaris<\/em> with a prevalence rate of 88.88%. The results\nof this study confirmed the interference of the parasites community in the\nnatural marine environment and in the cultured environment. The Lamellodiscus\nelegans<\/em> is one of the pre-recorded species on the gills of Diplodus\nvulgaris<\/em> in the Syrian coast. The fingerlings of the fish that are raised were\nobtained from marine environment, not artificial hatcheries which could explain\nthis interference between the two environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
