The aim of the research was to\nstudy the reality of protected cultivation tomato in Tartous governorate in\ngeneral and Banias region in particular through the calculation of revenues and\ncosts. 225 questionnaires were distributed to the farmers in 12 villages in\nBanias, where most of tomato greenhouse farmers are concentrated in the long\nseason. The indicators of economic analysis were then used to analyze data to\nproduce and interpret results. The results showed an increase in production costs in the long\nseason. The production costs amounted to 1264173.19 SP, but also accompanied by\nan increase in the total production. The total production amounted to 1800000\nSP, which covered the production costs and increases the profit value of the\nfarmers, which amounted to 535826.81 SP and the economic efficiency coefficient\nreached 1.42. The results recommended the\nnecessity of working to reduce the value of agricultural production\nrequirements, and to provide them with acceptable price, in line with the\nfarmers&#8217; incomes, and to highlight the role of agricultural organizations and\ncooperative societies in securing these requirements and prevent the monopoly\nof traders and support and encourage protected agriculture in the studied area,\nbecause of its high economic importance, and outstanding role in raising the\nstandard of living and securing employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key words: <\/strong>Tomatoes, Revenue, Costs, Protected agriculture, Economic efficiency, Long season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/agri-research-journal.net\/sjar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/v7n4p10.pdf\">Full paper in Arabic: PDF<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ibrahim Hmdan Sakr(1) Ryad Tawfik Zidan(2) and Mosa Marhig*(1) (1).
