Although there are\nmany studies related to these two diseases in the world, few studies were\nconducted in Syria, where many species have been identified from different regions, based on\nmorphological characteristics and some molecular methods. However, this study\nis the first report of <em>F. torulosum<\/em> associated with root and crown rot\non wheat in Syria. The morphological characteristics of two isolates were\naccurately described on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and carnation leaf agar\n(CLA) medium. Partial TEF-1<em>\u03b1 <\/em>gene sequence\nwas amplified using primers ef1 \/ ef2. Successful PCR\namplification of TEF-1\u03b1, showing a single band of ~ 700 bp, was obtained. Amplified\nproducts were subjected to\nautomated DNA sequencing, and the sequence was compared with the sequences\npublished on the <em>National Center for Biotechnology Information\n(NCBI) website, where our<\/em> isolate FH3\nshowed 98.04% similarity with the isolate KY659169 of <em>F. torulosum.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key words:<\/strong> <em>Fusarium torulosum<\/em>, Wheat, TEF1- \u03b1, Root and crown rot, Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full Paper in Arabic: <a href=\"http:\/\/agri-research-journal.net\/sjar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/v7n1p33.pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laila Zidan(1) Walid Naffaa*(2) and Dana Jawdat(3) (1).
