E-Mail:<a href=\"mailto:ghassanyoussef@hotmail.com\">ghassanyoussef@hotmail.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Received: 21\/03\/2019\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Accepted: 07\/09\/2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Life table studies for potato tuber moth, <em>Phthorimaea operculella<\/em> (Zeller) were carried out to compare an artificial medium to potato tubers, <em>Solanum tuberosum<\/em> L. for rearing <em>Ph. operculella<\/em> larvae. The calculated biological parameters were: Net reproductive rate of increase (R<sub>0<\/sub>), Generation time (G<sub>t<\/sub>), Intrinsic rate of increase (<em>r<\/em><sub>m<\/sub>), Finite rate of increase (\u03bb) and Population doubling time (D<sub>t<\/sub>). The obtained results indicated that potato tubers proved to be more favorable for achieving the highest developmental and multiplication rates of <em>Ph. operculella<\/em>, than artificial diet. The natural mortality figures; Apparent Mortality (AM), Real Mortality (RM) and Indispensable Mortality (IM) for larvae reared on potato tubers were 46.77, 29 and 20.21%, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest mortality rates were 51.72, 30 and 19.29% when larvae were fed on artificial diet. \u00a0It is quite worth to mention out here that potato tubers are more attractive feeding source than artificial diet for rearing <em>Ph. operculella<\/em> for research purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keywords: <\/strong>Potato tuber moth, <em>Phthorimaea operculella<\/em>, Life table, Artificial diet.<\/p>\n<p>Full Paper in English: <a href=\"http:\/\/agri-research-journal.net\/sjar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/v6n4p42.pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gassan Youssef*(1) (1).
