The aim was to evaluate the effect of increasing application rates of nitrogen fertilizer (N) and potassium humate (H) on productivity flag leaf area of bread wheat (triticum aestivum sp. Sham 10). Nitrogen application had a significantly affect flag leaf length and area as well as on grain and straw yield. All treatments that received both nitrogen fertilizer and potassium humate were significantly superior compared with treatments that received nitrogen fertilizer only in terms of flag leaf length and area, resulting in relative increases of (33.1, 22.1, 2.3, 12.3%) and (23.6, 12.1, 8.2, 10.6%) for main stem and tiller leaf length, and (63.2, 34.7, 28, 25.8%) and (52.6, 38.2, 18.4, 14.5%) for flag leaf area of both the main stem and tillers when potassium humate was applied at a rate of 10 kg N/ha along with nitrogen application, respectively. Furthermore, combined effect of the applied nitrogen and potassium humate were significantly superior compared with treatments that received nitrogen fertilizer only. The results showed that the application of humate at a rate of 2.5 kg/h-1 along with nitrogen application increased grain and straw yield by about (34.1, 16.6, 27.7, 12.7%) for grain yield, and (16.6, 18.9, 16, 9.5%) for straw, compared with treatments that received just nitrogen fertilizer. Grain yield reached 10.36 t/ha in the 400 kg N/ha treatment and increased to 13.62 t/ha when humate was applied at a rate of 2.5 kg N/ha at the 300 kg N/ha level.

Keywords: Soft wheat, Sham 10, Nitrogen fertilizer, K-Humate, Flag leaf.

Full paper in Arabic: PDF

Alaa Sulieman Al-Hafe1* and Samer Mihoub1 1 General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research –Siano Research Station, Lattakia, Syria.
